Here are some highlights from my interview with Dr. Vonda:
Redefining Aging for Women
Dr. Wright makes a critical point: most longevity and biohacking research has traditionally centered on men. But women make up 51% of the global population—and their biology, right down to the stem cell level, is different. “It’s time we look at longevity through the lens of women’s health,” she shares.
That’s the driving force behind Unbreakable—a book that prioritizes the unique aging journey of women and offers science-backed strategies to thrive through it.
The Hidden “Time Bombs” of Aging
One of the central themes in Unbreakable is identifying and defusing the “time bombs” of aging—underlying mechanisms that accelerate decline and loss of mobility. Dr. Wright focuses on six of the twelve hallmarks of aging, including:
Epigenetic Influence: “DNA is not your destiny,” she says. Only 20% of health outcomes are driven by genetics; the remaining 80% is influenced by lifestyle—nutrition, sleep, movement, and even mindset.
Inflammation and Inflammaging: Chronic, low-grade inflammation—especially post-menopause due to estrogen decline—is a major driver of aging and disease. Estrogen, a natural anti-inflammatory, plays a vital protective role that must be addressed in women’s longevity strategies.
Mitochondrial Health: Our cellular powerhouses are deeply influenced by our daily habits. Nutrient-dense food, movement, and eliminating toxic exposures are key to preserving mitochondrial function and energy as we age. '
Is Hormone Optimization the “Elixir of Longevity”?
When asked about the true elixir for longevity, Dr. Wright is clear: hormone optimization, when done with scientific precision and personalization, can be life-changing.
“Every woman deserves a risk assessment, just like with any drug or procedure.”
Estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone play critical roles in maintaining:
- Bone density (1 in 2 women will suffer an osteoporotic fracture);
- Cardiovascular protection;
- Brain health (abundant estrogen receptors in the brain)
- Energy and libido
But hormone therapy is not a silver bullet. Dr. Wright emphasizes the need to pair it with muscle-building strength training, anti-inflammatory nutrition, restorative sleep, and deep social connection.
Building an Unbreakable Body–Mind Connection
True vitality requires strength in both body and mind. Dr. Wright highlights emerging science that links physical activity to brain performance:
- Osteocalcin, a hormone made by bone, stimulates neurogenesis (new brain cell growth).- Muscle contraction releases galanin and klotho, longevity proteins that protect brain and nervous system function.
“Bone is not just structure—it’s a master endocrine communicator,” she explains.
By building strong bones and muscles, we can dramatically impact brain health, insulin sensitivity, and immune function.
Lifting for Longevity—Not Just Looks
Dr. Wright is redefining fitness advice for women. She prescribes strategic heavy lifting to age strong—alongside intelligent cardio (alternating low and high heart rate zones) to promote resilience and avoid cortisol spikes.
“Your workout must match your life stage, goals, and recovery ability,” she says. “Health first. Then peak performance—based on data.”
Supplements That Support the Journey
Dr. Wright’s supplement strategy is based on personalized lab testing and biofeedback, with a rotating stack that may include:
- Creatine. (In the interview, we discussed JJ Virgin’s latest innovation, SHEatine™—a next-gen creatine formula uniquely designed for women. I personally take SHEatine Capsules)
- Vitamin D3 + K2 for immune and bone health
- Magnesium for nervous system and muscle recovery
- Omega-3s for anti-inflammatory support and brain function
Bone Health Assessment for Early Prevention
Dr. Vonda stresses the critical role of bone health in longevity, particularly for women. With one in two women facing an osteoporotic fracture, early assessment and prevention are vital.
She advocates for advanced bone health screening using DXA (Dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry) and highlights the difference between DXA and REMS (Radiofrequency Echographic Multi Spectrometry) – innovative, non-invasive technologies that accurately measure bone density and quality.
These tools empower individuals to proactively maintain skeletal strength, prevent fractures, and enhance vitality as they age.
The goal? Support metabolic flexibility, muscle function, and inflammatory balance throughout life.

Dr. Wright’s vision for aging isn’t about resisting time—it’s about owning it with intention, strength, and science. Whether you're considering hormone therapy, revamping your training, or learning how your bones and brain communicate—her message is clear: “We are not fragile. We are unbreakable. And we have the tools—scientific and spiritual—to age with strength.”
